2009 Heckscher Museum
The Heckscher Museum of Art, located on the Long Island north shore, is home to a selection of exceptional works devoted to 19th and 20th Century European and American art. In conjunction with a $13 to $15 million expansion and renovation, GrayGlass was contracted to supply custom fabricated glass for the museum ceiling. With an extremely short timeframe of two weeks, as opposed to a couple of months, a complex project was completed with spectacular precision and uniformity.
The Heckscher Museum project included:
- A ceiling with tempered and translucent laminated safety glass.
- The Museum Board of Directors visiting the GrayGlass facility to view different glass samples and test each one in various degrees of sunlight.
- Approximately 400 uniform glass panels with various degrees of tint.
- A white interlayer (10%) glass that was sandblasted.
